Frequently Asked Questions

What should I wear and/or bring?

Dress for the weather. Most of the time, there is a nice breeze coming off the water. Here are the things we recommend:

  • Hat and sunglasses

  • Sunscreen

  • Footwear that you don’t mind getting wet

  • Change of clothes (some people get a bit wet)

  • Picnic foods if you’d like. We do have some light concessions, drinks, coffee, and tea.

  • Outdoor chairs or a picnic blanket. We have picnic tables and benches in little nooks around the property as well.

What if I’ve never kayaked before?

Our kayaks are very stable and perfect for beginners. The water here is glass calm most of the time, and the current is almost imperceptible. We have an easy in dock with a cradle and hand bar for stability getting in and out of your kayak. In a few short minutes, you’ll be navigating the brook, taking in the spectacular views.

What is required of me?

You are required to agree to wear a PFD at all times when out on the water. Additionally, everyone who uses our kayaks are required to read and sign a waiver (link from home page).

I have small children, can they kayak with me?

We’ve got lots of solutions for the entire family:

  • We have three tandem kayaks that are perfect for small children and their grown-ups or couples (475lb weight limit).

  • We just got five brand-new 8’ kayaks that are easy for kids to maneuver. They are rated to 200lbs, and are fantastic for kids age 7 and up.

  • Our main kayaks are 10’ and rated to 275lbs.

  • If you’re more comfortable in a canoe, we have those as well. You are sitting in an upright position in comfortable seats. Capacity 700-750lbs.

I have a large group that wants to come kayak.

We can accommodate up to 40 people for small events and group kayaks. Our rates are published on our rate page, but please contact us so we can make your visit a special one and reserve the boats you need.

Can we swim at your facility?

While the water is clean, the bottom is very silty. Swimming at our facility is not permitted and in this body of water, not recommended. The shoreline is not easy to exit and/or enter the water from.

I have my own kayak, can I still use your facility?

Yes! We’d love to have you. We do charge a facility usage fee and you can find the rate on our rates page.

I am vacationing nearby on a lake and would like to rent kayaks there. Do you deliver?

We do deliver and have daily and weekly rates. We charge a delivery fee by the delivery and distance. Check our rates page for more details or give us a call!

It’s my birthday, can I come have a party?
